Job Overview:
The Outfitting Staff will be responsible for outfitting vessels during shipbuilding and repair projects. This includes installing and fitting various components and systems to ensure the functionality, safety, and aesthetics of the vessels. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Component Installation: Install and fit various outfitting components on vessels, including but not limited to, doors, windows, hatches, handrails, ladders, and fittings according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interior Furnishing: Assist in the installation of interior furnishings, cabinetry, furniture, and fixtures to meet design requirements and client expectations.
- Deck Equipment: Install and mount deck equipment such as cranes, winches, davits, and safety equipment, ensuring proper alignment, functionality, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Piping and Plumbing: Assist in the installation of piping systems, plumbing fixtures, and sanitation equipment onboard vessels, collaborating with plumbing and piping teams as needed.
- Electrical Systems: Work with electrical teams to install electrical wiring, lighting fixtures, navigation equipment, communication systems, and other electrical components onboard vessels.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing outfitting tasks, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with safety procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance inspections and tests to ensure that outfitting work meets industry standards, specifications, and client requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other departments, including engineering, welding, painting, and insulation teams, to coordinate outfitting activities and achieve project milestones.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of outfitting work, including installation logs, inspection reports, and material inventory records, for documentation and future reference.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience in outfitting, shipbuilding, marine construction, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of outfitting materials, techniques, and equipment used in shipbuilding and marine industries.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship in outfitting work.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors and project managers.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and work in various environmental conditions.
