The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, knowledge of marine systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pipe System Design: Develop detailed designs and specifications for piping systems based on vessel requirements, regulatory standards, and engineering principles. Ensure compatibility with structural layouts, equipment arrangements, and functional requirements.
  2. Material Selection: Identify suitable materials for piping systems based on factors such as fluid characteristics, operating conditions, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness. Evaluate material specifications, standards, and suppliers to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  3. System Layout and Routing: Plan and optimize the routing and layout of piping systems to maximize space utilization, accessibility, and ease of maintenance. Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to integrate piping systems with overall vessel design.
  4. Pipe Fabrication and Installation: Oversee pipe fabrication, assembly, and installation activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Collaborate with fabrication workshops and subcontractors to coordinate pipe manufacturing and installation processes.
  5. Pressure Testing and Commissioning: Conduct pressure tests, leak checks, and performance assessments on installed piping systems to verify integrity, functionality, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Participate in system commissioning and startup activities to ensure proper operation and performance.
  6. Quality Assurance and Documentation: Implement quality control measures to monitor and inspect pipe fabrication, welding, and installation processes. Generate documentation, test reports, and as-built drawings to record as-installed configurations and deviations from design specifications.
  7. Technical Support and Problem-solving: Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and vendors on pipe engineering-related matters. Troubleshoot and resolve design issues, construction challenges, and performance concerns encountered during project execution.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards governing piping systems and marine installations. Stay abreast of regulatory updates and technical developments to incorporate into design and installation practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in pipe engineering, piping design, or marine systems engineering, preferably in the maritime or shipbuilding industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and pipe design software (e.g., CAESAR II, AutoPIPE).
  • Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ABS Rules for Building and Classing Steel Vessels).
  • Familiarity with welding processes, materials selection, and fabrication techniques relevant to marine piping systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
