As we expand our operations, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Staff to join our procurement team.

Job Overview:

The Purchasing Staff at Noahtu Shipyard will be responsible for coordinating the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for shipyard operations. This role requires effective communication skills, negotiation abilities, and a strong understanding of supply chain management to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and select vendors and suppliers based on quality, price, reliability, and delivery capabilities. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  2. Purchase Order Processing: Generate purchase orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with project requirements, budget constraints, and procurement policies. Track and monitor purchase orders to expedite delivery and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  3. Material Requisition: Review material requisitions from project managers and department heads to determine procurement needs. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, specifications, and delivery schedules.
  4. Price Negotiation: Negotiate prices, terms, and discounts with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms. Conduct price comparisons and market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
  5. Supplier Performance Evaluation: Evaluate supplier performance based on delivery timeliness, quality of goods and services, and adherence to contractual agreements. Address any issues or concerns with suppliers and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  6. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and stock availability to ensure adequate supply of materials and equipment for ongoing projects. Collaborate with warehouse staff to optimize inventory control processes and minimize stockouts and overstock situations.
  7. Contract Management: Assist in the preparation, review, and administration of procurement contracts and agreements. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies and procedures.
  8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, including purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and supplier communications. Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, expenditure analysis, and supplier performance metrics.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. Participate in cross-functional teams and initiatives to implement best practices and optimize supply chain management strategies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the maritime or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations, contract law, and industry best practices.
  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management is a plus.
